Rebuild Trust & Accountability

There has been a lot of lost trust between our community and government in the last 3 years. My first commitment is to rebuild that trust, through transparency of action and data.

• Public calendars of every event, meeting, and engagement so you know what I’m doing as your public servant

• Every email and phone call is logged with a service ID so we can track how I respond to every request

• Release regular statistics on how long it takes for us to respond to requests so you never have to guess my performance

Lead and Save with 21st Century Technology

Being a technologist, I see how Ontarians are suffering with obsolete technology and huge gaps in long-term technology strategy. From electronic health records to how your drivers’ licenses are ordered, I will use my expertise to lead the conversation on rebuilding Ontario’s technology infrastructure.

• Lead the conversation on adopting secure cloud-based technologies in health care to empower hospitals, doctors, and other health care providers to serve you without delay

• Advocate for a full technology audit in government to replace inefficient and expensive tech with cloud-based solutions

Protect Education, Environment, and Health Care

The last 3 years have seen an erosion of what matters most to residents of Markham-Stouffville. Our teachers, doctors, and environment are under constant threat from the decisions made by the Ford government. I commit to standing up to defend the institutions that serve our children, our health, and our land.

• Commit to listen to teachers, not bureaucrats, on how best our students should be taught in our public schools and post-secondary institutions

• Commit to listen to doctors, nurses, and health care professionals, not accountants, on how we should deliver our services

• Commit to stopping blank-cheque “Minister’s Zoning Orders” and stopping the wholesale paving of the Green Belt

Return to Respect for Municipalities

I understand the importance of municipalities and the services each of them deliver. City and towns cannot operate when decision making power is taken away from them to benefit the friends of provincial leaders.

• Advocate for the immediate restoration of municipal powers to oversee land use planning and development approvals. Cities know best how to develop their own land, not billion-dollar developer friends of government ministers

• Advocate for conservation authorities independence and impartiality through legislation

Act for Equity, and Act for Others.

It’s not enough to “stand up for equity”. I will act on the values of equity, and boost the voices of those who are often left unheard.

• Commit to at least half of staff at the local constituency office identifying as Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour (BIPOC)

• Commit to a rotating “residency” for students in high school and post-secondary to experience first-hand the joy and rewards of public service

• Commit to working with local organizations and charities to boost their voices in serving our community
